Our Story

“The story behind Finch”

This ridiculously good wine has an equally radical story behind it. Hear it straight from our founder Jay Ruparel.

“One sunny afternoon in Melbourne, I was at a barbeque picnic with friends sipping on some Siskin Chardonnay. Siskin is our other range of fine wines named after the bird, and the label has its image on it. Just as we were enjoying our banter, my attention went to a colourful little bird pecking on the wine label. It was almost as if she was jostling for attention and wanted this rather realistic looking bird out of her arena.

The moment we realised what happened, we burst out into collective laughter, startling the little bird and it fluttered away. I knew that this pretty bird Finch is native to Australia. Inspired by the colourful character of the bird, I went on to craft a range of vibrant, refreshing wines that are truly Australian. As a tribute to the unusual moment that led to the idea, I named the brand Finch. And of course, the label has the bird on it.”

Whether the audacious range of Finch wines does justice to this strange true story or not, our wines are certainly an outcome of select grapes from the finest wine regions, and created with passion by our master vintners. Most of our wines are vegan and they graciously break the myth that fantastic wines are hard to find.
